VIP Etruscan Countryside Visit

Tour pricing starts for 1 to 2 people. Experience the magic of two ancient Etruscan towns as you enjoy a full day excursion outside the walls of Rome.  We will take you to the heights of Civita di Bagnoregio and show you exactly why it is known to many Italians as the 'island in the sky'. In fact, following a terrible earthquake in 1695, all roads leading into the village were destroyed. The only means of arriving there today is by crossing a narrow footbridge suspended in mid-air!  But before this adventure, we will take you to explore another ancient Etruscan city: Orvieto. This beautiful town, perched high on a hill, was the last of the Etruscan cities to fall to the power of the Romans in 265 AD, but above all it served as the political and religious capital for the Etruscans throughout their reign. You will visit its underground Necropolis 'city of the dead' and its famed cathedral, the largest gothic church in Italy which can be seen from miles away as you approach Orvieto. In Orvieto you will also tour local shops offering handmade crafts, culinary delicacies and regional wines. Finally enjoy a characteristic lunch, sampling some of the finest cuisine of the region with a special attention to succulent hams and cheeses! Clients are met at the Rome train station by Rome Walks staff to travel to Orvieto by convenient local train (approximately 15 euro per person round trip, fare not included in price). Once in Orvieto clients will be picked up by one of our fabulous local guides with a private vehicle for the excursion. Walking shoes and comfortable clothing are recommended. This 7 hour walking tour is available: Tuesday to Sunday starting at 9 am.
